Projects and reference cases

Intermesh has a lot of Group-Office customers. We do a lot of projects for these customers. Some are small and some can be very large. Examples of smaller projects we can do are:

• Connecting Group-Office to your website for newsletter subscriptions or contact pages.
• Connecting Group-Office to other applications.
• Migrate data from other systems using custom import or sync scripts.
• Creating special reports for Group-Office.

Some of our larger customers with custom projects are:

 

University of Greifswald, Germany

In Greifswald we personally guided the IT department for two days. We helped them configuring Group-Office on an active-active cluster. The cluster consists of servers. Each server is equiped with 2 quad core processors and 24 GB of ram. The servers both run Apache, MySQL and an OSCFS2 clustered filesystem. This Group-Office installation hosts over 20.000 users.

They maintain all their users in an LDAP directory so we configured Group-Office to use their LDAP directory for user authentication. We even wrote a special synchronization script that will automatically enable access when users have agreed to their special Groupware service agreement. When users are removed from the LDAP directory Group-Office will be cleaned up automatically.

 

Group-Office didn't fit all the needs of the university straight away. We developed several enhancements for them. The main ones were:

1. SMIME Signing and encryption of e-mails

2. ManageSieve mail filtering support

3. IMAP ACL support for sharing mailboxes.

Bioscientia in Ingelheim, Germany

At Bioscientia we helped the IT department to migrate their existing exchange accounts to Group-Office. We setup Group-Office to use their existing LDAP server for authentication and automatic e-mail configuration. We drafted a complete workflow to migrate about 250 users to Group-Office.

Because some of the users absolutely required a desktop client to manage calendars we developed a CalDAV server for them. Now the desktop users can use Thunderbird or any other CalDAV capable client to manage tasks and appointments.

TBI Direct in the Netherlands

With over 8000 employees TBI is the 3^rd largest construction technology group of the Netherlands. TBI direct is a nation wide call center for emergency calls. They use Group-Office to schedule their mechanics. When calls come in they can use Group-Office to quickly find the nearest mechanic on duty.

We made several special customizations to the calendar module for scheduling and reporting.

The National Police Internal Investigations Department or rijksrecherche

The Rijksrecherche in the Netherlands uses Group-Office in the Hague with about 100 users. We developed PGP e-mail encryption for them and the SyncML plugin for synchronizing their mobiles.

Propack shipping module in the United Kingdom

A British packaging company commissioned Intermesh to develop a very specific Group-Office module. Propack specialises in the development of packaging materials and the shipment of machine parts worldwide. The application covers all operations from the initial order to the final shipping of the parts. The application was built as a Group-Office module, allowing employees access to their entire office and operations in a single environment and from anywhere in the world.

Park and fly in the Netherlands

Parking at Schiphol Airport has never been this simple. We all know how much there is to organise before a holiday or business trip: the flights, the paperwork, the luggage. And it doesn't end when you arrive at Schiphol. You still have to find a parking spot, board the shuttle bus - often with heavy luggage - and then find your way on foot to the correct departure lounge. A time-consuming and exhausting affair. But there is a simpler way: with Park and Fly!

Intermesh has developed a reservation system for this car park. The system calculates how many parking spaces are still available for visitors to the website. It also provides the administrators with reports on everything they need to meet customer demands and provide good service.
