Old users can't see new

Postby gmann1 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:57 pm

Hello,

I'm using yours free product v4 and have to say - it's great ! :P
I have 4(A,B,C,D) "old" user which were created long time ago and now I have created 2(E,F) new.
And now I got problem - users A,B,C,D are visible between self and can't see users E,F but they can see (without problem) the old users (A-D).
And the point is - when I create next new user Z so nobody can see him but he will see everyone.
All of them are set up at same level (normal user; Group: everyone+internal).

Solution is if I give all users admin rights then each of them can see everyone (but this isn't real solution  ).

So where can be problem ?

Thx for yours advices 8)

Have you checked the "User is visible to" section in the Permissions tab in the User module?

Is this the same for E & F as they are for A-D?

It problem still persist you could try to run database check (as admin) to see it things gets fixed.

yes, I did.

Every user is in groups:Everyone, Internal and is visible for : Admins, Everyone, Internal.

What you mean with possibility that I have to check the database ?

1. Log in to Group-Office as Admin.

2. Go to Start menu > Admin tools > Database check

This tool often solves problems with permissions etc.

Where exactly are the users not visible? When granting permissions or in the addressbook?

Calendars adressbook (if you know what I mean with  ).
Respectively it's going on the shown people who can be chosen for shared calendars.

I am experiencing the exact same thing.GO ver 4.0.72

Yesterday was the first time someone reported to me that they couldn't be seen by other people. The person first logged in on July 23rd. While I do see the account in the Admin list, as a regular user I cannot see them in the Calendar under the individual users list, or in the the View that I have attached that person to.

The user is set as a member and visible to the Internal and Everyone group.

Two other new users who signed into the system last night are also not showing up to anyone, again with the correct account settings being in place for them.

EDIT
The users also do not show up in the Address, Tasks, and Notes tab under the Admin user panel. They do appear in the Files tab.
We don't use anything but the Calendar function, but it seems everyone else prior to the GO v4 switch who had logged in is in the address book, but none of our new users after the Go4 update.

In talking to one of the users, the first one who reported the issue, I noticed that in the Admin panel it shows she had only logged in once, on July 23rd. She however assures me that she has logged in 5 to 10 times. So GO is also not correctly tracking user activity there.

As Admin, I can see her name in user list in the calendar tab, and I can see her entries for appointments both by clicking on her name in the individual calendar list, and under the View that I had created (as Admin) for the group of users she is within for that view.

EDIT
Yup. The system is definitely not updating the user profile when they log in. I have logged in as one of the users who is invisible to everyone a number of times, and her login count as it shows in the Admin panel, and her login date/time, are not changing. It only shows her first login from July 23rd and a count of 1 for logins. The same is true for a user who logged in the first time today.

So the issue continues.. 7 users who all signed in for the first time since July 23rd are not visible to anyone else.
I've done the database check
The create search index
Had them log out and log in (which as mentioned, also doesn't show in the Admin panel as ever changing)
Rebooted the server

All no effect for bringing them visible to each other and the rest of the users that were already present in the system when I had at first installed 3.7.

I have just updated to version 4.0.74 and the problem remains.

As Admin user, I have also tried editing the user to remove them from the Visible To groups of Internal and Everyone, Apply, Refresh, then re-enable them to be visible in those two groups. Still no change. Still no updating of their profile as they log in either.

If an invisible user books an event in the calendar for someone else, it will show on the correctly working user's calendar.
Rolling over the event, it will even show in the pop-up box the name of the user who is still not visible anywhere else in the system as the owner of the event.
But if you double-click the event to Edit it, it says the person who the event is FOR is the owner of the event, not the invisible user who actually made it.
If you have the invisible user create the event in another user's calendar, and make the invisible user a Participant, they still do not show up for the working user list of other calendar users or in Views, but they do appear in the Participant list for the event.

Further updates...
If a working user adds a new event, and clicks on the Participants tab, you CAN see all the other users. This is the only place I have found where I can.
I went into the MySQL Admin tools to look directly at the GO database tables go_users and visually compared a working user row to a non-visible user row. I found the following

New users are not matching the settings old users have for their defined time-zone. Changing the non-visible user to match time zone did not make them visible to others.
Changing a non-visible user's Login count from 1 to 2 did not make them visible to others.

I noticed now that some of the less-newer (v3.7.55 installed users) who are visible to all, do not see their login count or last login dates updating either!
ADMIN USER is also not updating for Login count or last login time, and that user was created over a month ago! The admin user Last Login has not updated since July 19th, when I updated from GO v3.7.55 to GO4.

File folders ID is zero for new users, where as old users have some kind of 4 digit value like ranging from 1 digit to 4 digits. Changing it to match did not make invisible users visible.

I did an ID column sort in go_users. User ID68 and beyond do not show up. I have a gap in number between 55 and 68.
I changed ID column value 71 to 56, looked at the event calendar for a user I had booked an entry for using the invisible user (as described further up this post)
When you roll over the event, it then says Owner "Removed ID;71"
Restored ID and owner shows right again but none of this made an invisible user visible again.

BUGS in the go_users table I found...
Everyone NEW is reverse for thousands_seperator and decimal_seperator
Old users are dot (for thousands colum) and comma (for decimal column)
New users are comma and dot!

Table cal_calendars column called "file folders id" has a # different from what go_users has for the same field name in it's own table.

There seems to be many many little problems behind the door. But this invisible users thing is driving me insane and getting me into alot of trouble with company managers who cannot organize their staff, meetings and appointments now.

Any hope for a fix really soon? I've given every possible bit of information I can find in tests and behind the scenes info. I can't try to fix the code myself, I just don't know it well enough.

I went to the extent of doing a completely new, fresh install with the most current version (4.0.76).New database from scratch. New temp folder, everything.

The SAME problems persist.
1 - User records do not update the login counter or the last login time. It always shows just the first registration login.
2 - No user can see any other user, even though they are each set as visible to internal and visible to Everyone

I can't reproduce these issues.

Just to be sure, with "Users are not showing up" We are talking about permission panels where you can add users right?
