Document preview

Postby gregoire » Fri Oct 01, 2010 7:04 pm

I'd like to click on a file in the Files module and see a preview without the need to download it. Looking for a free tool who could do this I found swftools. It can convert pdf to swf and there's also a tool floating around (many actually which makes it hard to pinpoint which as added value for GO) which converts doc to swf. This was after a quick google search. Maybe there are even more suitable tools.

This would be a nice to have but in my opinion I don't like to download anything to see what's inside. Maybe google docs spoiled me.

There will be a new filesearch module soon that can preview the contents in plain text besides deep searching files.

is there any way to 'parameterize' the document preview area? as i see now (build 4.0.109) the preview wont refresh (?does it ever?) very often, so if someone changes a text file for example, the old version will be still displayed after saving.

It indexes files overnight. Is the cron job running? (defined in /etc/cron.d/groupoffice-documents)
