Why do you need Google calendar if you have the GO calendar?

I got some idea because i could have the same problem. My organisation is an association. I have two kinds of events :
- public events like exhibitions, festivals, etc...
- private events : meetings, due events, ...

For the moment the google calendar is my public calendar because GO don't have (i think so) a public frontend for just have a look in a calendar. Isn't it ?

SO i have to put my public events in two calendars (and so i have mistakes and errors) : one time in my google calendar and one time in my GO calendar (these which the workers of my organisation are using)

Ok then I would rather focus on the public calendar feature in GO. I'll write it down.

Yes I also do the same problem, but i do it TREE Times :D, I work and mannage a comunity club, so I have my Outlook at my work station (for work, personal and club calendars), I have my GO for when Im off the officem, and for personal and club use, and I have Other calendar In Gogle (actually for the club members).

From Outlook I can see the Google calendar that is public (not edit it) via an url like http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/... ... lendar.ics , so if we can have a public calendar in GO like http://mygosite/public/user/sharedcalendar1.ics, I will just use the GO to manage the calendars and read them from Outlook, and get rid of the google one.

That sould be perfect for Files and proyects too. I will post it in a new post

Regards!!

Has this issue been worked on or addressed lately?

We have the same problem, we all use google calendar for our personal private calendars, etc and think it would be a very important feature to able to synchronize the GO calendar with our google calendars, even if we do use our GO calendars! :)

Any word on this feature?

I am having to maintain my Google Calendars as well as my GO (work) calendar. It would be great if I could subscribe to my Google Calendars in GroupOffice and manage all calendars from a central place.

Mirroring all calendars through Google and using Outlook for reading them is not the solution to users who do not (want to) use Outlook.

I has suggested in a similar post http://www.group-office.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5278#p25718 that it would be sufficient to import the Google ics file in a cron job, so we could at least read Google Calendars through the GroupOffice interface. The "import" button is already there, so it shouldn't be much effort to add a "repeat hourly" option.

I order to export GroupOffice calendars to Google calendars, you need to adapt /usr/share/groupoffice/robots.txt to:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /
User-agent: Googlebot
Allow: /

The Google calendar then looks like this: http://ethify.org/content/calendar

Unfortunately, after each GroupOffice update, it is overwritten.

Feature request 1 (allow to export to Google cal): do not overwrite robots.txt
Feature request 2 (allow to import from Google cal): offer hourly import of ics file

Update: Google seems to have changed their robots policies, the synchronisation stopped in mid 2012. Thus we removed the Google calendar and only offer an ics link. Will try to integrate a Drupal Module that lists imported ics calendar events.
