Problems creating a second user with version 5.0.36

Talk about anything that doesn't fit in the other catagories :) (and of course is about Group-Office)

Problems creating a second user with version 5.0.36

Postby michelbisson » Mon Jan 27, 2014 4:44 pm

Yesterday I installed newer version(5.0.36) of Group Office Mailserver using the Debian repository .
Since the version 5.0.32 some changes have happened:
PRO:
- inbox=1 in dovecot configuration file doesn’t need to be manually entered.
- The ‘postconf: warning: /etc/postfix/main.cf: unused parameter:….’ don’t appear any more when reloading postfix config.

PROBLEM:
- the creation of the first user (other than admin) runs well but the creation of a second user produces the following side effects:
————————————–
Could not create mailbox on postfixadmin module. Couldn’t save mailbox:
Field mailboxUsername is required
Field mailboxPassword is required
Field Name is required
————————————–
I checked many times the entries and tried different combinations of settings but always got this error.
I thought the user didn’t get created, but even though the error message appeared, the user was visible
if I selected the admin’s calendar panel and back to user’s administration panel.
The user got registered properly except the integration automatic/password sync
with the mail system didn’t work and the mailbox for the user didn’t get created.
Instead, each time I tried to create a new user and the error message showed-up,
I looked into the ‘email Domains’ panel and saw that a new empty domain got created with no settings.
It seems that during the creation of the new user, the fields needed to create the new users mailbox got lost and instead created a new empty domain.

I can't replicate this with the 5.0.38 version. Can you try it with that?

Thanks very much for your prompt answer and fixing.
I already updated from 5.0.36 to 5.0.38 and all works fine so far.
I will soon update my HOWTO in Internet.
I also saw the graphic enhancements of small icons for features in the interface. Cool.
I really appreciate your good work and although I haven't tested your product all the way through yet,
I already have a very good feeling about it,
especially in the area of quality, performance and support of the product.

I'm working as consultant and Sysadmin for commercial clients
and especially since the NSA having its nose in almost all of our networks,
there is a demand for secure email services which I'm trying to set-up fro myself and for clients.
The combination of high functionality and flexibility for admins to still introduce their own internal extra functions
is the best I've seen so far. Very often, in order to raise the functionality
and ease of use software, companies are making the core of the system 'intransparent'
and very difficult to manipulate without breaking the system.
A good example of that undesirable attitude is Zimbra.
One of my client is using it but I'm trying to convince him to change
to Group Office where much more flexibility is available.
Group Office is in my opinion a great work and concept.
I will test the system much more for my own use and I'mm looking forward to it.

Best regards

PS. Although I probably should not say that but, the fact that your company is in Holland and not In USA is a big plus for me.

Thanks a lot for your compliments! We appreciate it.

Group-Office is indeed the perfect tool to build your own "private" cloud!
