Compress (zip) breaks file names?

Talk about anything that doesn't fit in the other catagories :) (and of course is about Group-Office)

Compress (zip) breaks file names?

Postby rosetta » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:32 am

Group-Office stores all file names in UTF-8 on the server. Windows computers usually stores file names in Iso-8859-1.

Normally this is no problem. Uploading/downloading files to/from GO works great, and file names seems to automatically converted respectively.

However this does not happen when we compress files with GO:

1. Upload some files from Windows to GO (the file names should have some foreign chars in them)
2. In GO, compress those files to a ZIP archive.
3. Dowload and unzip that archive to the Windows machine.

File names will be "broken" - they are in UTF-8.

Broken file names are not so important. I use BandiZip for UTF-8 Encoding.
Problem is at included filepath at every compressed file e.g. "/groupoffice/admin/somefolder1/filename.txt". It should be simple "filename.txt"
