Talk about anything that doesn't fit in the other catagories :) (and of course is about Group-Office)

imap password change via poppassd?

Postby orca » Mon Jan 17, 2011 11:02 pm

Hello,

at first, excuse my poor English, please!

For our school with about 60 teachers an employees we are testing GO on our Plesk-Webserver. The installation ran through and the basic features work correct.
GO authentificates against an existing imap-server using the IMAP-authentication-module. If a new user logs in the first time, the user ist created in GO. So far, so good.

But if a user changes his password in GO, the change does not affect the password stored at the imap-server.
Is it possible to change the IMAP-stored password in GO, via popassd for example?

If it helps, here is my imapauth.config.php

Code: Select all

<?php
/**
 * For more information visit: http://www.group-office.com/wiki/IMAP_or_LDAP_authentication
 */

$config[] =
        array(
        'proto' => 'imap',
        'domains' => '*',
        'host' => '<mail.<my-domain>',
        'port' => '143',
        'ssl' => false,
        'novalidate_cert' => true,
        'mbroot' => '',//you might have to change this to INBOX
        'remove_domain_from_username' => true,
        'create_email_account' => true,
        'groups' => array('Lehrer'),
        'visible_groups' => array('Everyone', 'Lehrer'),
        'modules_read' => array('email', 'files', 'addressbook', 'calendar', 'tasks', 'notes', 'summary'),
        'modules_write' => array(),

        'smtp_host'=>'<mail.<my-domain>',
        'smtp_port'=>'25',
        'smtp_encryption'=>'',
        'smtp_username'=>'',
        'smtp_password'=>'',
        'smtp_use_login_credentials'=>true, //set to true to use the login username and password for SMTP authentication too.

        'ldap_use_email_as_imap_username'=>false,
        'imapauth_combo_domains' => '<my-domain>',
        'imapauth_default_domain' => '<my-domain>'
        );
Greetings
orca

p.s. Great work! I compared the features and usability of GO, openxchange and eGroupware, and the winner is: GO!

I'm sorry, you can't change the IMAP password. You should disable GO password changing if you use this.

If the IMAP server is running locally though you can use the "systemusers" module to change local user passwords.

As far as I know, the "systemusers"-module changes the linux-user-password. On our server, the imap-passwords however are stored in the plesk-database, so this will not work for us.

I will try to set a feature request for changing imap-passwords via poppassd.
I think such a feature would be consequent: If I can authenticate against an IMAP-server from GO, I should be able to change the appropriate password from GO, too.

Thanks a lot!

I'll have a look at popassd because I don't know about it.
