Infamous Installation Loop Fixed!

Postby jimmyninemsn » Mon Oct 10, 2005 4:15 pm

I have found the solution to the infamous installation loop. (As far as I know).

In the install script, it forgets about the tasks that have been completed.

Code: Select all

eg. $_SESSION['completed']['xxxxx'] = true; (where xxxxx is the task name).
You have to manually add the tasks to each case.

Add the tasks manually only to the cases that it has completed!!!!!!!!

For example in case 'license' you would have somethong like

Code: Select all

$_SESSION['completed']['test'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['license'] = true;
and for case 'smtp' you would have something like

Code: Select all

$_SESSION['completed']['test'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['license'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['database_connection'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['database_structure'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['title'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['url'] = true;
$_SESSION['completed']['tmpdir'] = true;
Do not add all tasks being completed to every case otherwise the installation will only show the end page which kills the PHP session.

I hope this works for everyone, as it has worked very successfully for me on several servers.

Good Luck! :D

Hmm, but this shouldn' t really be nessecary because the session var should be saved for the whole session.
It's got to be some kind of session problem.
