Postby john3v » Wed Mar 11, 2015 1:43 pm

Hello!

After ver 6.0.x till today on ubuntu server 14.04.4 x86 when a make ZIP archive from attached in e-mails files or other files (in Files module), if their names contains cyrillic characters, structure of archive is complicated, and names are unreadable.

It is described at sourceforge as bug, but nothnig is done yet.

All GO does is run "unzip FIle.zip". If that leads to broken chars it must be unzip that has the bug.

No. Problem is when GO makes ZIP archives, not when extract it.

I found that is not GO problem. In ubuntu server distro 14.04.02 lts x86.
When I make archive from console, file names are unreadable again. Nothing from ubuntu support.

I believe this is a fundamental problem in zip. ZIP files don't specify encoding. Ubuntu uses UTF8 and Windows doesn't understand that. I think Winrar detects it.

Wrong encoding at names - OK. BandZip can open UTF-8 archives too.

But what about path? The path to files is included at archive. I think that is not correct.
Even when archive is archived and extracted with GO.
Now is:

Code: Select all

....../home/groupoffice/users/admin/тест/тест-subfolder/bla-bla-bla.extension
Must be:

Code: Select all

/тест-subfolder/bla-bla-bla.extension

P.S. Can we use different archive format? TAR, GZ ... etc
