multiple adressbook sync

Postby webwolfi » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:36 am

thanks for this feature!
(go pro 3.2.26)
is it right, that new contacts from my mobile are added to my default addressbook?

Then there maybe is a little problem: when I go to settings>sync i can choose the addressbooks i want to sync and there is a column "default" in the grid but without any checkbox to check.

This feature is really great, will check if it works right.
In my installation there are checkboxes to select the adressbooks you wish to sync and a radio button to select one default book.
But I don't know yet, what the default button do.

You can only check the default radio when the checkbox is selected.

The default addressbook is used for new contacts.

It's probably because you had old css in the cache of your browser.

Fine, I found this new feature and maybe it's usable for us.
Before I give hours of testing, could smoeone give a short abstract of how this feature works exaclty with multiple clients (eg. Blackberry and Outlook Funambol conected to one GO account, syncing 3 addressbooks and doing adding, changing and deleting in all 3 systems)?

thanks

i didn't test it yet. I can only tell you how it should be: with every change the contact gets a new timestamp, so the last modification is the valid one.

this means, if you do modifications on two clients without syncing immediately the older change gets lost. And you should avoid deleting contacts.

@merijn: am i correct?

but in general i find this new feature very usefull

But this should be possible. I have users, that earn more than 2000 contacts, with about 30% duplicates (manually caused). They should be able to delete.

Of cause, a feature I asked for some time ago, too. It would be great, if the calendar could get the same feature.

The last one who edits overwrites other peoples changes.

deleting duplicates is ok of course. avoiding dups is one of the reasons of this feature. but: if you have e.g. a project addressbook you should know, that if one deletes a contact that is part of this addresbook it is deleted for all
