Open html files form filesystem without download

Postby rob » Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:59 pm

Hi,
I started using the community edition a month ago and like it very much. I like the filesystem especially but I'm wondering why all files are downloaded before they are opened. I'm thinking of reading html files directly from within GO so that relative links pointing to other files in the system will work. Is there any possibility to open a html file without downloading it?
Thanks

That would be interesting indeed:
Having the posibility, to edit some simple content-pages online, in order to link to several other pages and files within GO along with some explanations e.g.

But as I see it, there is no URL for single pages one could link to - its all index.php - so a special "Set-link-to" function would be needed.
Is there any posibility to do this?

Haven't tried the CMS module. But I had a look at how to install it and found it not easy enough for me to try. I read the CMS part of the wiki but could not even find the site id which I should find under "Websites -> Sites -> Double click the site ". I'm using the german language, but I also checked it out in english, to no result. Is there a more fleshed out step by step tutorial to install the CMS module?

The CMS is included with v3 and works perfectly.

Well, I'm interested to install the CMS, but need some help as I mentioned already above. If I understand the wiki right the first thing is to install / enable the mod_rewrite module for Apache. Ok, if that works, do I see in Groupoffice Websites -> Sites -> as the documentation says? If yes, I know what to expect.

You should see that without the rewrite too.

thanks, that brought me in the right direction. I found that the module wasn't installed yet. I added it in the modules tab. Now I see it. It works. I'm not aware what this VirtualHost section is good for. I could open my test file. But I had to add a link to a file in our companies folder by hand. Did I miss something? Or is that a VirtualHost thing?
