Features currently worked on

Postby mschering » Tue Nov 18, 2008 7:48 am

Currently I'm working on the following features. If anybody wants to help feel free to contact me. At the moment there's not much contribution of the community in development of new features:

Tasks[b]
Show who created it
Priority setting

[b]Calendar:

Public calendar feature
Birthday of contacts in the calendar
When importing an iCal file which contains appointments with attendees
having the same e-mail address as existing GO users, GO does not add the
attendees.

E-mail:
Save all attachments at once

Billing
When a call is automatically scheduled for a quote in x days it should take weekends into account
Default texts for the frontpage

General
bookmarks
Note sync
Sync multiple addressbooks
E-mail reminders
what about searching automatically for the sender address when one wants to link an email from the inbox? same for writing an email out of the addressbook - why do you not fill out automatically the link-field with the actual contact / company?
URL as custom field
address formatting for different locales
CalDAV support
Set default tasklist, calendar etc.

Files
file locking
Link folders

Projects
Export project to billing
Import quote to project

As you can see I've got some things todo :)
Best regards,

Nice to see that there is still muchg development ahead.

Once again I'd like to mention how much I miss the 2.18 feature "resources". Will that come in soon too?

The Ressources feature is very important for my customers on my 4 servers as well. So can you please tell me if and when this will be implemented? If it's a matter of 3 or 6 months it's no problem but behind that time horizon I will get some problems ;-)

I second that opinion. I've got to set up a new system for my boss and this would include the billing module but we need the resources along with it to have a fully working solution. Is there a timeframe when resources will be back, this would help on our purchasing decison.

Thanks for your good work

I can't give an exact time frame. There's a long list of things todo and it would be a wild guess if I gave a time now.

Hello,

as you recently stated a new project module is being worked on.

I wondered if you could give us at least a rough estimate for that one?

My company is really interested in buying the professional version, but it's a little bit of a problem for us if you are willing to change complete modules every then and now without informing the users correctly and putting the old version off-the-hook.

The old one's demo video got removed and it's disabled in the demo-system too. :-(

Another question I have - is there a module available for recording the hours our workers have worked?

Greetings

The video was removed because it didn't reflect the current projects module. If it's not available in the demo then that is a mistake that I will correct now. It is available in trials.

Thank you for your fast reply :-)

Ok it's working again now.

I'm missing a feature like a membersystem with rights-management so that I can restrict how and if someone has access to a project or not.

Wasn't there one in the video?

Also a customisable numbering system for projects (like there is one for orders) would be very eagerly needed as most companys have their own system for that purpose and would want to integrate that (like us).

Is something like that planed or even already existing? That are the only few things restraining us from using your solution.

If you could offer us a customization we would be happy as well.

Would the ID number of the database with some custom formatting do?

It must leave the user being able to change the number manualy per project while creating a new one.
Our numbering-system is working like this:

1 or 2 for the kind of subcompany (2) followed by the year (09) and an increasing number (184).
i.E.: 209184 or 109298

In my opinion making the project-number an auto-increase field in MySQL would not be possible but you'd need to write a little in-between-function.

We are currently using FileMaker and would like to import the old projects as well (i. E. per CSV import to the MySQL Database) but thats another pair of shoes :-).

But can the mysql id field be used as a part of the number?

The last part is auto-increasing but sometimes i. E. when we should be at nr. 209001 we need to create a new project with the number 209999 or 108001. So theoretically speaking you could use the project-id as the last 3 digits - but i haven't had a look at your database structure yet so it could be that this is not possible without changing the fields propertys/type

Re: Features currently worked on> Calendar Printing

Postby brainbows » Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:41 am

Dear Developers,

Apart from resources, the great bottleneck in the Calendar-Module are the printing previews. In my opinion this is the key of GO becoming a threat to Outlook for a lot of people.

I would like to contribute on printing but I don't know where to start. Besides the .body.print ( ) - is there already something developed? Has anyone thought of a strategy/concept like 'waiting for Ext to improve printing' versus 'adapting the output to standards better suited for printing'?

I'm not a profession web-developer, therefore until know I can't come up with a intuitive idea to solve the problem of printing a div-layout with elements having a fixed position.

Looking forward to a good discussion!

Yes, at the moment only the listview prints well.

I think I must create a special PHP page that formats the output suitable for printing.

How about e-mailing a calendar list?
