Share email account

Talk about anything that doesn't fit in the other catagories :) (and of course is about Group-Office)

Share email account

Postby pictux » Mon Jun 08, 2009 1:13 pm

Hi all,
is there a way to share an email account or an email folder?
(of course, without configure the same email account on 2 groupoffice account).

I'd like to share email like calendar, with permission of read email, or create a new one, etc..
Thanks!

Why can't you simply use a shared IMAP account for this?

Thats the way I do it when several users should be able to read / send email from one shared account...

Sorry, I don't understand.
I have a IMAP Mail Account info@mydomain.com and i want share this for many GO Users. But GO can refer only one User per Mailbox.
A User can have many Mailboxes but not vice versa.

But you can add the account at each user.

Do you have a manual or FAQ-Link about this?

We don't have this. Adding an e-mail account should be very straightforward.

Hi everybody,

I have a question which I think fits into this forum thread on "shared mailboxes".

In my test Group Office setup, the read/unread status changes for all users, i.e. the first user looking into a message sets the status to "read" and when the second user looks into the shared mailbox, the message is marked "read" even though said second user did not yet open the message in question.

Does Group Office allow user-level read/unread status handing for messages residing in shared mailboxes ? If such is not foreseen with the standard configuration, would ik be possible to change configuration settings in order to obtain such individual user-level read/unread status ?

Many thanks for your clarification on this issue.

GroupOffice is just an frontend to an existing IMAP server. Problems, related to mailboxes of any kind, should be almost always be addressed to the IMAP server community. To setup a mailserver infrastructur, isn't an easy-doing task and it should be clear which server component is responsible for which feature/issue.
Sharing mailboxes and tagging mails different in reference to different users is obviously an IMAP task.
