Portlet howto?

I was wondering if there was any howto or guide on how to go about putting together a portlet that could show up on the summary page. I've got a few ideas for portlets that I'd like to try to hack together and offer back to community (providing they're decent enough ).

Not really but if you know ExtJS it's easy. You should take a look at:

modules/tasks/Portlet.js for an easy example.
