Sync Failures in Recent App Updates.

Gmail for Android ActiveSync

A recent Gmail for Android update introduced a malfunction that disrupts ActiveSync-based synchronization. Email, Contacts, and Calendar data are all affected.
With the impacted versions installed, the app repeatedly re-syncs all folders from scratch. This causes temporary disappearance of mailbox content and a constant flow of “new message” notifications as previously downloaded messages are fetched again.
This issue is caused by a regression in the Gmail app and cannot be corrected on the server side.

Affected versions

  • 2025.11.02.828149635.Release
  • 2025.10.13.822206885.Release

Avoid updating to these versions if possible.

Downgrade options (at your own risk)

Note: Downgrading removes all configured accounts. Uninstall Gmail via the Play Store. This reverts the app to the version bundled with the device’s operating system, which can be used normally. If you prefer, you may then update to the last confirmed stable version: 2025.09.15.810231445.Release. A direct downgrade to this version is not supported; you must uninstall first.
